Two Billion Rounds

As the stock market turns down, and bonds remain in a funk, we will soon see why the Federal Government just ordered an enormous stockpile of ammunition over the last 10 months.

Feds Buy Two Billion Rounds Of Ammunition
It’s not the number of bullets we need to worry about but the number of feds with guns it takes to use those bullets. There are currently more than 70 different federal law enforcement agencies employing over 120,000 officers with arrest and firearms authority . . . That’s an increase of nearly 30 percent between 2004 and 2008. If the trends have continued upward at a relatively steady rate, that would put the total number of federal law enforcement officers at somewhere between 135,000 and 145,000. That’s a pretty staggering number, especially when you consider that there are only an estimated 765,000 state and local law enforcement officers. That means that about one in seven law enforcement officers in the country works directly for the federal government, not a local jurisdiction.
As an mathematical anecdote, the amount of ammo purchased is equivalent to 14,285 rounds per federal law enforcement officer.

All we can say about this is - Planning for something??

Recall the constitutional amendments that are proposed in Japan, limiting freedom of speech, as we mentioned in our last post.

The actions of government tell the true tale.  Not their jawboning about "taking care" of citizens.

The reality is the unfunded liabilities - like pensions - will not be fully funded because it is mathematically impossible.

Government has grossly over-promised entitlements for seniors and health care services.

So my plan remains focused on savings - particularly currencies that have no counter-party, such as gold and silver.  Precious metal stocks are extremely oversold presently and are looking attractive again.

It will be every man for himself in this new world of eventual government default.

The sooner everyone prepares, the easier the transition to the new reality.
